Committing

Once a week, every Monday morning, as part of my training I go into a 5-minute long push-up plank hold.

It’s not easy. I had to build up to it at first, from 2, then 3, 4, & 5 minutes.

The ‘rules’ are you must hold steady, in perfect position. No breaking the hold.

Your body is going to shake. You’re going to want to drop your knees to the floor at some point. Hopefully not too early!

But here’s the thing: it’s not primarily a muscular exercise.

It’s not about how strong you are, physically.

It’s about commitment. It’s about mentally committing to the fact that you are not going to drop out of this hold, no matter how much it hurts.

Once you make that decision in advance, that’s when you’ll achieve it.
