The 5 Why’s

Sometimes I have to ask ‘Why’ as often as five times, in order to keep peeling back the layers, and to dig down to the real reason behind things.

This is a common Coaching technique.

But you can do it to yourself, as long as you’re honest.

Why are you [here, seeking this, etc.]?

Why is that?

… and so forth, until you get to something real, like: ‘I’ve been unhappy about this ever since I was a kid.’

We can pretty good at keeping our true feelings below daily conscious levels.

Sometimes you have to dig.
