While traveling this past week of course, regular readers will know, that I left with a workout plan.
Being away from my home gym is no problem at all for me.
There are practically an infinite number of workouts one can do without any equipment, many of which I’ve talked about before, and won’t go into detail in this post.
(A blog post attempting to cover all possible types of workouts one can do with zero or minimal equipment would be a massive project. Perhaps one day, I’ll write that post!)
Today I just wanted to tell you about one, very simple – but NOT easy – option.
Take a deck of cards.
Shuffle.
Flip over one card.
Do that number of pushups.
Repeat until the deck is complete.
Picture cards = 10; Aces = 15; Jokers = 25.
I did this the other day without the Jokers, as it was my first attempt.
It took me about 35 minutes to complete.
It was awesome.
It was sinister.
It was free.
It definitely made me stronger.
I’m definitely going to do it again.
I did add up the total number of pushups after I was done. I didn’t want to know beforehand, and I recommend you do it the same way. Thus, I won’t spoil it for you here.
Because frankly, if you had asked me, ‘Hey Matt, can you do XXX pushups?’ … or, if I had known in advance the total number before committing to myself to do the whole workout no matter what without quitting, I would have said ‘no’ and possibly not finished.
I’m not saying I definitely wouldn’t have finished.
But I would have had a shred of doubt in the back of my mind.
And the truth is, you are capable of much, much more than you think you are, when you set your mind to it.
