If you pay attention, you probably do this as well.
(Feel free to exchange the word ‘eating’ for practically any verb, any action that you do daily.)
One moment you’re just eating.
The next, you’re somewhere else completely, lost in thought. Perhaps you’ve even forgotten that you were just eating, and while you may still be chewing, you’re unconscious of the taste of the food, and the person(s) across from you.
Then, you’re eating again.
Then suddenly, you’re angry about something, and the emotion takes you away from eating again.
And so on.
Here’s the thing about a regular meditation practice:
It helps to shorten the duration of the times you spend ‘not-eating’.
