‘Ruined’ (to me) is a very strong word.
It implies complete & utter devastation, beyond repair. Not even just broken – broken can be fixed or repaired. ‘Ruined’ means obliterated.
That’s why I very rarely use this word.
I sometimes hear it used rather loosely.
Except, language – both the language you use with others and towards yourself – matters.
If it’s not ruined, don’t call it so.
Very few things are actually ruined.
The vast majority of things are well within your reach to mend.
