Sometimes, Just Shut Up.

Some people I talk to don’t need any help from me at all, other than for me to simply shut up and listen.

It’s easy to tell if you’re comfortable with silence, and being a patient, active, empathetic listener, because the other party will simply keep on talking.

They may not want you to say very much at all, or give any advice.

All they may need is to work through it themselves by getting it out of their head, and off of their chest.

If that’s the case, don’t interrupt. Don’t let your ego compel you to speak just to fill the selfish need to be heard.

Right then, in that moment, it’s not what you’re needed for.
