According to classic Buddhism, “there is no thinker behind the thought.”
Thoughts simply ‘do what they do’; they arise, and then they pass.
You are not independently controlling their rising and passing.
In fact, there is no ‘You’ at all, at least, not apart from the rest of the world.
This can be helpful to remember during the day when any kind of negative thoughts arise; it is natural for them to do so.
And it is also natural that they will pass.
You do not have to cling to them, or act on them.
