Letting Go Daily

I’ve written many posts on this blog about negative thoughts.

There’s a practically infinite spectrum ranging from being overwhelmed and consumed by them, to the point where one is depressed or worse, and being generally positive, yet still contending with them as they arise.

I don’t believe they ever completely go away. At least, not for most of us, even those who are largely at peace.

One healthy daily practice is to sit still for fifteen minutes and intentionally let your negative thoughts go as they arise.

Not to try to prevent them – that’s futile.

Note them, and then let them go.

It won’t necessarily be easy at first, but this practice of noting them will raise your level of awareness of that fact that they are not permanent. They arise, and then they pass.

You don’t have to hold onto them for one moment longer than necessary.
