As a Father, I like to differentiate between Work, and work.
Work (with a capital ‘W’) encompasses all of the things that are most important to me, including: taking care of my own mind, body, and spirit, so that I am in the best possible position to take care of those around me; important projects that create value in my career; anything that helps me live more closely aligned with my principles and dreams.
The other kind of work, little ‘w’ work, that has a place too, and I approach it with the intention to do it as well as I can, but never, or, as rarely as possible, at the expense of doing Work. This includes answering emails and other kinds of administrative tasks that do require energy, and must be done, but are better done (for me at least) after my real Work has been addressed.
