Complete awareness of each moment, complete experience of right now … I’m not sure that I’ve ever felt that. Perhaps a few times when I was a young boy, but, that’s a story to explore for another post.
I’ve heard that complete awareness is extraordinary and can even be overwhelming, especially if you’re not ready for it.
But, short of that, I don’t think there’s any doubt that we can all experience life more deeply, more fully, little by little, through a daily practice of awareness.
One technique that Shinzen Young teaches for this is called “See-Hear-Feel”, a practice in which you note your senses into one of those three categories.
If you try it, you’ll find that it’s quite amazing how much is actually going on, right now, in your ‘ordinary, everyday life’.
Hint: It’s not ordinary at all.
