Accepting help isn’t the easiest thing for today’s father to do.
There are many reasons for this. Even in a culture where older stereotypes are actively being broken down, much of our picture of ‘what a man should be’ is heavily influenced by all kinds of myths and stories. Some of those are true, and even positive, yet can still be interpreted negatively.
For example, to tell yourself that because you are the strong leader of your family you should not ask for help is a bit twisted.
To be the strong leader in your family, you might just need a drop or two of openness, of vulnerability to admit (to yourself, and to others) when you should not be taking something else on, when you need a break, or a hand.
