If you’re a husband and father with a demanding job, on whom the primary source of your family’s income depends, like me, then you’ve probably woken up early in the morning, a few hours before you’re ‘supposed to’ wake up, with a lot on your mind, and had trouble getting back to sleep, at least a few times, if not more.
For some of us this can be a recurring problem.
I’ve talked before about helpful sleep tips such as minimizing light, sound, and other variables in your routine, but here’s a different one that’s intended to alleviate the problem described above.
Before going to bed, take out a piece of paper and write down, in order of priority, the top 5-10 things you need to do the following morning.
These can be professional or personal, whichever is on your mind the most. Whichever you typically struggle with in the morning the most.
The feeling of not knowing where to begin because you have so much on your plate doesn’t have to persist.
When you know exactly what number 1 is, there is no hesitation.
You might not get to number 8, or even number 2, but at least you’ll start off, right away, in the right place.
