“Dad, I’m sick of spaghetti & meatballs!”
That’s a paraphrase. My kids didn’t exactly use those words, but, that was the sentiment.
I’m proud to say that I have cooked almost every meal at home since mid-March.
But they’re right: it has primarily been the same 3 or 4 entrees for dinner.
And the funny thing about this is just how right they are.
You see, as we get older, us grown-ups have a tendency to lose touch with our physical intuition; with how connected we are to our bodies; with how well we can receive and respond to the signals it gives us.
But children have far less poison in them. Poison meaning, external and internal things that interrupt our bodies natural ability to heal and learn from itself. Such poison might be from years of eating non-organic junk food, and/or it could also be emotional, psychological, and more.
So they’re right not just because eating the same thing every Thursday is boring …
… but because eating the same foods every week without rotating in new ones will actually lead to a nutritional deficiency …
… which leads to being sick.
There is more truth to the phrase ‘”Dad, I’m sick of spaghetti & meatballs!” than meets the eye.
