“We are all in the same boat.”
This is a phrase that you ‘get’ right away, probably now more than ever. But it goes a little bit deeper than just ‘wear a mask or ‘stop at that stop sign’ so that we can all follow the same rules and be safe.
It means that everyone else is scared, just like you.
Everyone else wants to feel safe and secure, just like you.
Everyone else has deep, emotional needs underneath all of their behaviors, and, at the end of the day, if you’re fighting with someone, those needs probably aren’t being heard or met correctly.
We’re in the same boat all the time, not just in pandemic times.
