First post on the new ‘Vitalize Your Life’ Facebook page. Welcome to all new & old readers, and happy Valentine’s Day.
Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day in the ‘traditional’ way or not, there most certainly is a connection between love, vitality, and your health worth examining.
So what is this ‘Vitalize Your Life’ thing? What is Vitality?
To me Vitality is the fire for life that burns inside you, even if, at times, that fire can burn quite low. It is where you draw your power and energy from. It needs to be nourished, and controlled. Properly maintained, it’s potential is infinite.
The reason that I am a Health Coach is because I revitalized my own life. Diet, exercise, meditation, and all of the other things I write about – they are all tools or paths that will help you on your journey towards maximizing your Vitality.
So, what about Love? Well, Albert Schweitzer said this:
“At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.”
We cannot accomplish anything alone. In fact, the notion that we are alone is false, because we are far from it.
Love is an intangible thing that we cannot fully explain with words, weigh, or measure – but it’s importance is undeniable. You cannot live without it, no matter how solitary or scientific you may try to be.
Self-love is selfless, not selfish, as I have stated before, because the better that you take care of yourself, the more you become able to love another. In fact, you can only love someone else to the degree that you are capable of love in general, which starts with yourself.
The more you love you are capable of, the more that you can be that beacon of light and love for others; the more that you can lift them up, and Vitalize them.
Love and Vitality work together. The more that you can create in your relationships, the more it multiplies and spreads to everyone else who sees, emulates, and follows your example.
It’s not always easy; it’s not supposed to be. It could not be Love without it’s risks and challenges, just as there could not be Vitality without darkness.
Today is as good a day as any to be open to more Love in your life, to give a little to yourself, and a little bit more to everyone you already Love.
