About two weeks ago, got fed up with the number of inbound notifications I was getting via text message on my phone.
So I turned off all message notifications for texts.
Guess what happened?
The world did not end. I have not missed an important text message.
Whenever I want to look at my phone to see if any text messages have come in, then, I do.
All of the stress caused by constant interruption was removed. Vanished.
Just like that. With the tap of a few buttons.
Technology is amazing, especially when we master it. (Rather than allow it to master us.)
The interesting thing is that I would suggest to you that I have become more connected with the people around me, not less, by way of creating time and space for deeper, more meaningful interactions.
