You Might Need Twenty Minutes

I once heard Sam Harris say (he may have been quoting someone else) that if you don’t have time to meditate for ten minutes every day, then you need to meditate for twenty.

I love the way this points directly to the truth: the source of tension that you feel is the problem, and you must not turn away from it … you must turn towards it.

I’m not married to you practicing stillness only using the modality of mindfulness meditation. There are other ways.

But I am married to you practicing stillness.

No one, no matter how much energy and drive you have, can keep moving all the time without resting.

And resting is not watching TV. That’s not turning off your brain.
