Today, you’re not going to: throw away all of the processed foods in your pantry; eat only organic, whole foods; train your body physically; mend deeply damaged relationships; and set aside thirty minutes for a spiritual practice, if you’ve never done any of those things before.
Similarly, you typically don’t become sick overnight.
No, the path to healing, and to changes that last, is incremental.
What you can do today is pick one thing. Perhaps just swap out one soda or cup of coffee for one glass of water. Or, make one phone call to say hello to one friend you’ve been missing.
One thing today is easy to repeat tomorrow.
And the day after that, and the day after that.
Incrementally, you’ll end up way past where you otherwise would if you tried to do it all at once.
