Saying Goodbye

I recently threw out the only pair of training shoes I had trained in for about seven years.

That was an unheard of amount of time for a pair of shoes for me, as I usually destroy shoes.

These old Sambas had become molded to my feet, and I loved weightlifting in them.

They stunk.

Finally it was time to get a new pair, and, I found a great deal on one.

You would think that it would be easy to just toss those old, worn down, stinky shoes in the garbage, but, I did have to pause, thank them for all of the great memories they provided, and say goodbye.

In order to make room for new things, opportunities, places, and people, you must say goodbye to old ones.

It’s OK to thank them for their service.

When they no longer serve you, they have fulfilled their purpose, and you can move forward with gratitude.
