I’m not even talking about intermittent fasting here, which involves adapting to a longer period of time being hungry.
I’m talking about the fact that we have so much food available to us at all times that we, sometimes, can’t even wait for something to heat up, so that we start to snack while dinner is in the oven.
Or, we opt for something crappy because it’s available quicker.
Or, we eat at our desk because we just can’t step away.
Or, we cannot wait for the meal to get into our belly so we start to stuff in more right away.
Or, we chew so fast that we don’t even taste the food.
I don’t know about you, but I’m guilty of all of those things.
The truth of the matter is that a little bit of patience and awareness goes a really long way.
I’ll go so far as to say that practicing a simple (but not easy at first) habit such as mindful chewing could change your entire life.
A little hunger won’t kill you. It might even make you stronger.
