One of the things I love about strength training is breaking plateaus.
This fires me up both inside, and outside of the gym.
To be clear, I’m not talking about just lifting some dumbbells for three sets of ten. Nor am I talking about any kind of circuit training.
I do those things as well, after, and to supplement, hitting the big lifts.
I’m talking about starting out your session with some heavy lifting, and regularly testing your maximum capacity at the 5, 3, and 1 rep ranges.
When you get in the habit of breaking strength plateaus in the gym, a few things happen.
(1) You know exactly how strong you are in each lift.
(2) Nothing stands in your way in life.
