Food. Strength. Mind. Heart.
Today we’ll talk about Strength, the 2nd key area of your health.
I’ve written several times before about why strength training is important. When you train your body to be strong, you train your mind to as well. You learn to push through obstacles, and overcome anything that stands in your way.
I could go on about for thousands of words about that. But let’s touch on a few other aspects.
I like the word Strength because of the mindset it evokes, but, you might prefer one of these instead: exercise, power, movement, play, athleticism, conquer, climb, power, speed, fire.
For me, strength includes those concepts. It’s not just about how much you can bench press. I’ve written before how without flexibility, strength can be dangerous.
Does your job put you in a chair all day? Even if you go to the gym 3-4 times per week, what do you do to combat that stiffness?
Do you ever just go for a walk, or, play a sport for fun?
The more you’re moving around and having fun, your body will thank you.
Going to the gym is a great place to start. Since you’re already there, start to find little, additional ways to become a stronger overall person all day long, every day. Not just on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7:15 PM.
Standing desks, walks during lunch breaks, parking your car a half-mile away from the front door, stretching regularly, push-ups right in the middle of your office (yes, I do this) … there are countless ways.
And it all counts.
