“Up Before The Enemy”

I’m not at war on a real battlefield like some of our bravest, but I do get up before the enemy, at 4:30 AM.

My enemy is the snooze bar. He causes me to miss the opportunity to do all of the things that make me a stronger person in the morning.

He tells me to sleep for just nine more minutes. He tells me that I deserve a break.

But whenever I listen to him, all that actually happens is that I end up feeling like I’m in a rush, or missing out on something that I love.

And whenever I ignore him, and get up anyway, it always pays off. Every time.

So, no, I will not allow myself to walk with him down that slippery slope of laziness. I will rest after I have accomplished what needs to be done. I will rest when it’s time for bed, not when it’s time to get to work.
