You are desperately needed right now, because you remember.
If you grew up in or before the 80’s, then you remember what it was like before the internet; before our definition of connection started to change rapidly.
Your kids need you. Your friends kids’ need you. Your students & younger co-workers need you.
The difference between reality (what another person is doing or feeling in the physical world) and everything else (what people project onto various virtual platforms) is not lost, but, it’s becoming blurred, fast.
Virtual connections are amazing and have many benefits. You don’t need to abandon them.
Just don’t abandon the physical kind, either.
Things get pretty lonely when that happens.
Physical connections are harder. They take more work. You have to risk being rejected, or hurt.
But the truth is that you really cannot thrive as a human being without them.
