It’s Thanksgiving morning, and, Thanksgiving revolves heavily around food.
(Doesn’t everything we do?)
Here are a few quick ideas for how to make your meal as healthy as possible:
- Give your full attention to your family and to the food. Leave your phone at the front door.
- If you’re hungry, eat. The reverse: if you’re not hungry, don’t eat more.
- Allow yourself time and space. Put your fork down in between bites. There is no rush to finish.
- Say what’s on your mind, in your heart, or stuck in your gut. Tell someone that you love them, or that you hate how what they did made you feel. Get it off of your chest.
Notice that I didn’t tell you what to eat, or what not to eat.
Thanksgiving is a day of gathering together.
If you’re following a strict diet for any reason, just do your best. Very few Thanksgiving meals fit into a plan.
