What started as a glass of lemon water in the morning has become known in my house as ‘the green drink’.
Here’s what I’ve added to this drink over time:
- 1.5 cups of water
- 1/2 heaping teaspoon of spirulina powder
- 1 pinch of sea salt
- .5 cups of pure juice (beet, aloe, carrot, etc.)
- or, sometimes a few shots in concentrated form
- 1 whole lemon, freshly squeezed
I drink this every morning, first thing.
It’s a way to get some vitamins and minerals I would not otherwise get from food into my body.
It hydrates and detoxifies me.
And, finally, it’s a part of a healthy routine that works for me.
While the components of the drink are important, the ritual of not missing the drink, ever, even while traveling, might be even more important.
The reason for that is the ‘Green Drink’ is step 1. It’s the start of my day. After that, I go right into step 2, 3, 4, etc.
