Squatting For Mental Toughness

Squats are the single best exercise for getting your entire body (not just your legs) bigger and stronger.

I’ve written about this before. If I could only do one type of lift for the rest of my life, I’d choose the squat.

In addition to having the most physical benefits of all the lifts, there’s one ‘muscle’ the squat trains unlike any other lift: your drive.

Call it your mental toughness, your fortitude, or whatever else you want.

But there’s a point in every set of heavy squats where you hit the sticking point.

The weight is on your back, you’re moving it up, and then it stops.

If you think about stopping, you’re done. It’s coming back down.

But, if the only thing that you thought about was not stopping, never quitting, pushing through and making that life, then nine times out of ten, you’re going to make it.

That’s mental training you can take into life which is far more valuable than any number of pounds you can lift.
