I hear this all the time, mostly after one of these two things comes up:
- The fact that I train three times a week at 5 AM, or,
- How I don’t eat certain foods, like gluten or processed junk, ever.
Here’s the thing: I’m no different than you. Not one bit.
So, to me, it has nothing to do with a lack of discipline.
There are people who are, when it comes to training & nutrition, far more ‘disciplined’ than me.
Let’s pause for a moment to think about what discipline really means.
Isn’t it all in context? I’m not a competitive bodybuilder. A competitive bodybuilder, heading into a show, has to eat an extremely specific diet. So her discipline, for those few weeks, is what it takes for her to achieve her goal: winning the competition.
The amount of discipline you need has nothing at all with mine, or anyone else’s.
It only has to do with your goals.
What is it that you really want?
Figure that out first.
Then, the path to get there – and how much discipline is required – is much easier to walk on.
