For a long time, I used coffee excessively, but the idea that I ‘needed’ it was a myth.
It’s possible that drinking one cup in select cases will provide a helpful boost to your attention level. For example, if you are a little tired and have a long drive ahead of you. Or, if you need to study.
But every day, cup after cup, all day long – that’s not the same thing at all.
That’s just attempting to fill a void.
In my case, it was something like ‘feeling the need to be perceived as a big coffee drinker’, which sounds stupid, but it’s true.
Sometimes it’s not the thing that we want, but, how we think it makes us look, that drives to to want it.
