When I was much younger, I used to crave excess amounts of food, alcohol, and even some drugs.
Why? What was missing?
Those cravings never were actually fulfilled, not matter how much I ate or drank. And believe me, I ate a lot.
Without allowing myself to connect into real relationships, without having any kind of career that I enjoyed, without having any spiritual practice, and without having any regular physical practice, the void was simply too much.
By filling those areas later on, the question of “Matt, how come you’re not tempted to eat certain kinds of foods anymore?” simply answered itself.
