Lots of people say that religion is myth. I have definitely said it before.
It’s easy to say, ‘Aha! That book you’re reading is 5,000 years old and it’s got ridiculous stories in it that couldn’t possibly be true!’
I’m not so quick to pull the trigger on that statement anymore.
For about thirty years, while I was walking around discounting religion as myth, I was subscribing to many different myths without even knowing it.
More modern myths, yes, but myths nonetheless. Myths such ‘Owning a home is the American Dream,’ or ‘He’s Feeling Better Myth,’ or, ‘You have to have only one career path in life.’
I could list hundreds more. We all believe in myths.
So I don’t blame anyone for believing in any myth anymore. We do it so that we feel safe; so that we can make sense of this world.
Now, if you are ready to start to question those myths, here’s my advice:
The only true path is the one which you create for yourself today.
Don’t let anyone else tell you what you cannot do.
